New multi book format - Internet connected Books

"immortal" because adaptable, makes reading and learning attractive for the digital age.

The "Papillon" (Butterfly) method transforms digital "static" books and texts in unique dynamic worlds of experiences.

This concept made possible the development of an entirely new way for global learning and a new multi book format.

By linking the book with the Internet, books are transformed into a huge dynamic ecosystem of knowledge.

At first the focus was on the area of education. Today it is universally applicable and can be used in various fields.

Books are passion. Books are sacred to us.

"Books are sacred to us. We regard books as the highest expression of culture. They are object of esteem and untouchable.
Nevertheless, a book is not perfect ... There is no way to update or correct it. In the printed form one can not start a search request. Books do not lead over links to related knowledge, discussions or information sources such as the Internet.
"Jeff Jarvis, What Would Google Do

Celebrate the book! Celebrate the knowledge of our civilization, our wisdom, our treasure

Paper book -........... physical form

e-book - ........... ........electronic book in digital form

Internet Book - .......directly linked to the Internet

By linking the book with the Internet, books become dynamic,
interactive, interdisciplinary, updatable, modifiable

A book is a book. But only by the interdisciplinary integration in the Internet, as an integration into a higher system, is created something entirely new. The 3-dimensional view on a topical focus opens up a new intellectual dimension beyond the factual knowledge. A cognition jump is possible.

Why create Internet Books?

If you are an author, you are a researcher with great diligence and perseverance! You are interested in all facts concerning the background of your story.

But no one will ever find out the story behind the story, Which is sometimes just as exciting as the story you tell straight.

Let's take the author Frank Schätzing. He has written a remarkable bestseller The Swarm . How many time he has invested in the research for his novel? How many wonderful discoveries about the underwater world, about the state of the oceans, about whales and the wonders of deep sea he has met? Imagine, you could follow (in addition to the story) all factual information that the author has collected and analyzed. And not as boring source somewhere, but directly integrated on the side of his online version of the book.
That would be a look behind the door, an additional world. That would be much more than a simple story, that would be an event!
Here you can get a look behind the scenes, how could look such an Internet book

Or take Dan Brown, who is also a good example in view of the historical background.

The old understanding of a linear structure of the narrative is based on the analog medium book. How to tell stories not linearly, is showing the ambitious film "Cloud Atlas".

Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer have not tried to make a film of a complicated novel. They have re-invented the film and changed the basic principle. Mitchell's novel tells his stories straight and sets only a few subtle links - 1846 arises the "Pacific journal of Adam Ewing" and will read 90 years later by composer Frobisher. The film, however, with all its dramatic and technical means puts on simultaneity. It gives the impression that the six episodes associated not only in a secret manner, but actually run synchronously and tell a single story. If technology opens such a chance, let you inspire by the metaphor of the butterfly as a free and independent system for generating dynamic content. _____________________________________________________________________________

How authors can create Internet books?

How to design Books flexible with exciting effects and how to give the text more originality?

  • In a digital text you can mark a word or passage, that you want to make to a topic.
  • Put behind the topic different links  (1) (2) (3)  which light up your topic from all sides and from   different perspectives Interconnecting  and  combine the topic as much as you can . Interdisciplinary thinking desired .
  • Thus meaning, give the learner multiple sources from where he can choose and building up his own point of view, everybody is learning different , so the learner might find his information, the information who fits best to him personally ...
  • Deepen the topic  multidisciplinary  and see our planet from a different angle:

Example prototype: Topic earth, chapter 1

Science : astronomy  (1)   (2)   (3)  definition  (4)  geology  (5)  current volcano (6) (7)

Future: (8 (9)   (10) Different cultures : (11) (12)

By linking seemingly oppositional themes such as nature and culture, art and science, tradition and  new media, book  and internet grows an  interdisciplinary universe of knowledge  and fosters  interdisciplinary communication .

Find the  best links , which represent the topic in a  vivid and understandable way . This could be  well structured  web pages, as well as videos, audios, images...

In this way you can update and modernize each digitized book or text. New topics, scientific or historical references can be anchored in the consciousness. Or just funny, crazy things and all things of personal interest. That would be a cool feature - with a great potential and a joy for every book platform and book publisher - combining the best of both worlds by merging traditional print format and future-oriented new technologies.

Advantage

Links are stored directly in words or passages. This means, when digital texts are interwoven with interactive words, then you can experience books and texts. Unlike static text, you can go into the depth of topics and enrich them with photo spreads, animations and video messages. The consideration of the topic from different perspectives provides new insights .

If you can build yourself videos and in-depth information in a text, is achieved a high degree of emotionality.

Learning and reading become an event.

Such a tool makes digital "static" e-texts dynamic and interactive. The result is a new style of book-format and an inexhaustible added value to the content and fascination. A group of people is achieved which one doesn't reach with traditional books and analog learning.

Research Tools: Google, the Deep Web, and more!

Delimination to conventional methods

New multi book format - based on the "Papillon" (Butterfly)- method - is in contrast to most software-based versions independent, web-based, and story-based.

Interactive keywords provide in-depth and interdisciplinary insight in a prescribed or self-selected topic.

Learners can often get forward only page by page or navigate at most via the fixed structure of the index.

Key word: Root (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) ( 9 )"Papillon principle" promotes exploratory learning, the discovery of the contents.

The student learns all about the topic "roots" interdisciplinary: in the biological sense, our astronomical birth, our family and historical roots.

Through the attached links, it is possible to tie contextual links among and between study units and  disciplines as well as to practice discovery learning.

Example

The idea is to anchor knowledge cross-curricular because everything is connected to everything in our global world. Our actions have long-term and sometimes dramatic consequences.

River diversion, for example, is a complex system.  Every drop of water is a sensitive part of global water system that fullfill many tasks.

Therefore, researchers need to examine all the factors together: climate, geology, land use and settlements. There is no simple answer only an answer in a context.
"A small change at one place in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere." Butterfly effect Contexts clearly represented and bring into the educational systems can be a process, leading to much more than we think today.

The future of publishing begins with the writers

Google Docs has a new research tool that makes it easier for writers to create great content. The enhanced "Research Tool" improves writing with a nifty way to do all research in the same window. Compared to the classical search the new tool provides the additional option to store links and sources directly into the document.

The tool allows users to "learn more information about the topics in [their] document," bringing research inside the authoring environment .

Storytelling in the Digital Age - Books in Motion

The Past, Present, and Futrure of the "Depth Model" in Narrative by Evan Simpson University of Idaho, Richard Fehrenbacher - Narratech Project

"We are, however, now beginning to see examples of what is possible with the use of hypermedia and narrative; designers are using the web as a tool to help further the educational aspects of reading by presenting multiple translations of a single text and annotating the text online ( example ). In the future, we will see an explosion of the "Depth Model" in narrative. The question is not a matter of if, but rather when. When the authors of narrative and web designers realize the potential of the "Depth Model" in narrative then (and only then) will narrative have finally arrived online in its full potential."
